2025: Ever since I retired from teaching 16 years ago, I have been working as a metalsmith. It's been a labor of love and has fed the creative part of my soul. At the same time, I've been more and more drawn to working in the Muncie community, especially through the First Presbyterian Church as the head of Missional Outreach. That also feeds my soul!
Over the past year, I've realized that I don't want to have a business anymore. I don't want to have to make 30 pairs of earrings or a certain number of bracelets or pendants. At this time of my life, I also want to putter in the garden and visit my 3 grandkids more. I'd rather spend my time with the kids at South View Elementary School, help in the kindergarten class, play cards during the afterschool program at the Ross Community Center, help with a Habitat Build etc. Not flashy but those things will be my legacy.
My farewell show was the 2024 Indiana Artisan Holiday Marketplace at the GE Club, Electric Works at 1020 Swinney Ave. in Ft. Wayne. To prepare for it, I removed my jewelry out of the venues which sold my work in Muncie,Carmel, and Ft. Wayne. After the Marketplace, I took the remaining work to the Paradigm Gallery in Ft. Wayne where it is now available for purchase. Then, until I run out of my stash of metals and stones, I'll slowly make new work for the Paradigm Gallery. Thanks for your support and encouragement over the years!
The Paradigm Gallery is a wonderful place to shop for gifts or for yourself because of the high quality and variety of the offerings all selected by Abby Leon, Gallery Director.
Location: Within the Ft. Wayne Museum of Art at 311 E. Main St.
Hours: Tuesdays through Saturday 10-6, Sundays 12-5 and open late on Thursdays 10-8.
